How Long Does SEO Take to Work for New Websites

How Long Does SEO Take to Work for New Websites?

When you’re putting so much time and effort into getting your website to the top and recognised, you’re anxious, and that’s understandable. You want to see results right away from your hard work.

SO, LET’S START BY BREAKING IT DOWN.

You used to be able to follow a specific SEO formula or algorithm which was used to make getting your website to the top easy, but time has moved on and it’s all changed. In this day in age SEO is incredibly competitive, and that’s understandable we all want to be first. With over 1 billion blogs on the web it’s easy to get lost in with the others, if you think about it, that’s one blog for every seven people on this planet.

That’s why SEO is such a hard task to master, Google has to pick its way systematically through all those blogs, and trust me when I say they’re picky.

Later on, we will cover how SEO has changed in depth, but right now let’s get to why you’re here, to find out how long it takes for SEO to work for new websites.

HOW LONG DOES SEO TAKE TO WORK?

Frustratingly, the answer is that it simply depends. The average amount of time it takes for you to even start to see results in the right direction is about six months of actively working on and improving your content. However, there is no solid answer because of how many factors make up the vast world of SEO.

Every industry is different too so that will also play a massive part.

It also depends on if you want to rank high locally or nationally. If you were a plumber or electrician, you’d aim for ranking high locally as your business will most likely only cover your local area. Whereas if you were a web designer or an insurance company, you would want to rank high nationally as your clients could come from all over the world.

SEO FACTORS TO RANK YOU HIGHER

THE SITE ITSELF

Ask yourself this.

Is it secure and accessible? Is it fast?

If it’s fast it’ll boost your ranking AND be able to give your users a better experience on desktop and certainly on mobile devices. Mobile along with desktop speed time affect your conversions as well. Speed will determine how long SEO will take to work for your website.

IS IT MOBILE FRIENDLY?

Over half of the searches through Google are made on phones. So, make sure to take into consideration of how your website looks not only on the desktop but more importantly on a phone, because your audience will always have a phone, it’ll always be to hand as they’re just so convenient. So, if your website isn’t attractive on a mobile device, don’t expect to be ranked high. That’s something you’re going to want to sort.

UNIQUE CONTENT

Google, in order to see if your website deserves to rank high, want to see something unique, not the same boring content over and OVER again that you have taken inspiration from someone else. But can you blame them? Try and blog on something that hasn’t or rarely has been written about before, it may sound hard but not everything has been written about.

QUALITY BACKLINKS

Getting linked to on sites that burst with authority is great but if they aren’t relevant or similar to you when it comes to your field of work then there really is no point. Put out amazing content to attract the right type of backlink web page owners, same for your business or product, if that isn’t to high quality don’t expect high quality in where your links are displayed.

WHAT CHANGES HAS SEO FACED OVER THE YEARS?
KEYWORD RESEARCH

With this being such a huge area, it is important to note that getting keywords in SEO right is crucial. From January 1st 2020 there was over 1.7 billion websites live on the web with hundreds of thousands if not millions of brand-new websites launching every day. No pressure.

It used to be that you would need to pick four or five keywords or phrases to mention consistently in your blog content and that would help you rank high on the search engine, but this was very awkward to do and lacked fluidity not only for your audience to read but for you to write.

Before you were looking at five to ten keywords specific to your company/website, nowadays you’re looking at fifty-one hundred and maybe even more, having a few keywords for each page or section of your website. But just don’t overuse them… please.

So, remembering not to splurge your keywords all over your content is what you need to do, and long-tailed key words are the most effective in SEO.

CONTENT

You used to be able to write a blog, throw in a few keywords a couple of times and Google would automatically rank you and you’d appear on the search engine. If only it was that easy now eh?

Google has gotten smarter. They now want you to deliver high-quality content and let them (Google) do the hard work of finding out what your content is about to decide on its ranking. No more overusing your keywords or phrases!

Remember searches that people make are usually from people wanting answers so get to the point in your blog, answer the question as soon as possible because people want easy.

If you listen to this advice you have more chance of being rewarded by Google and they will ultimately make sure you rank high as it’s about providing users with what they are looking for and answering their questions straight.

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNT?

SEO is a massive factor in the success of your business’ website. But unfortunately, it is a vastly competitive game. How it’s done is always changing and there are so many factors to take into account. But with the right knowledge and with patience, your website will begin to rank and you will start to see results. There are no shortcuts in this game though so don’t try looking for them!
