What Digital Marketing Trends Can we Expect to See in 2023

What Digital Marketing Trends Can we Expect to See in 2023

As the year 2023 approaches, it’s time to start thinking about what the future holds for digital marketing and which digital marketing trends to look out for. Will we see the rise of AI-powered influencers? Will virtual reality finally become the next big thing? Will we all be wearing smart contact lenses that allow us to access the internet with our thoughts?

Okay, so maybe the last one is a bit of a stretch. But there’s no denying that the world of digital marketing is constantly evolving, and it’s hard to predict exactly what’s going to happen next. That being said, we can still have a little fun speculating about what trends we might see in 2023. As a leading UK Digital Marketing Agency, here are a few predictions of ours (some serious, some not-so-serious) for what the future holds for digital marketing:

Augmented Reality Advertising: With the success of Pokémon Go and other AR games, it’s only a matter of time before marketers start using augmented reality to advertise their products. Imagine walking down the street and seeing a virtual billboard advertising the latest sneakers, or having a virtual salesperson appear in your living room to give you a demo of a new appliance. It might sound like something out of a sci-fi movie, but it could very well be the future of advertising and we could start to see the likes of Google Ads starting to experiment with this through third parties (like their Display Network).

Personalized Video Ads: Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all video ads. In 2023, we can expect to see more and more personalized video ads tailored specifically to our interests and preferences. These ads could be as simple as featuring different products or services depending on the viewer’s location, or as complex as using machine learning to determine the viewer’s personality type and tailoring the ad accordingly.

Virtual Influencers: With the rise of AI and machine learning, it’s not out of the question to think that we might see virtual influencers in 2023. These digital personalities would be created by marketers and used to promote products and services on social media. They might not be real people, but with the right algorithms and marketing strategy, they could have just as much influence as human influencers.

  1. Blockchain-Powered Advertising: Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize many industries, including digital marketing. By using blockchain to track and verify ad impressions, advertisers could be assured that their ads are being shown to real people and not bots. This could lead to a more transparent and efficient digital advertising ecosystem.
  2. Voice Search Optimization: With the proliferation of smart speakers and voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant, it’s more important than ever for businesses to optimize their websites for voice search (Much like we currently do for standard SEO practices for typed search). In 2023, we can expect to see a greater emphasis on long-tail keywords and natural language search queries, as people become more comfortable using their voices to search the web.
  3. Interactive Content: In the age of social media, people are used to being able to interact with content in real-time. In 2023, we can expect to see more and more interactive content being used in digital marketing campaigns. This could include quizzes, polls, and other interactive elements that allow people to engage with a brand in a meaningful way.
  4. Predictive Analytics: With the help of machine learning and AI, digital marketers will be able to use predictive analytics to anticipate the needs and preferences of their target audience. This could lead to more targeted and effective marketing campaigns, as well as a better overall customer experience.
  5. Virtual Reality Shopping: Virtual reality technology has come a long way in recent years, and in 2023 we might see it being used for more than just gaming. Imagine being able to virtually try on clothes or test drive a car from the comfort of your own home. VR shopping could become a reality in the not-too-distant future.
  6. Micro-Moments: In 2023, we can expect to see a greater emphasis on “micro-moments,” or the small, daily decisions that people make about what to do next. This could involve anything from deciding what to eat for dinner to choosing a new car. Digital marketers will need to be strategic about how they capture people’s attention in these fleeting moments, using targeted advertising and personalized recommendations to sway people’s choices.
  7. Social Media Stories: Social media stories, which allow users to share photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours, have exploded in popularity in recent years. In 2023, we can expect to see even more brands using this format to engage with their audience and share behind-the-scenes content.
  8. But perhaps the biggest trend of 2023 will be the return of the fax machine. That’s right, you heard us correctly. Fax machines will make a comeback and will be used for all kinds of digital marketing campaigns. Just imagine sending a fax to all of your customers, promoting the latest sale at your store. It’ll be like the 90s all over again! (JOKE!)

Well, there you have it – our predictions for what the future holds for digital marketing in 2023. Will we see AI-powered influencers or virtual reality shopping? Only time will tell. But one thing is for certain: the world of digital marketing is always changing, and it’s going to be an exciting ride. So, get ready for the future trends in digital marketing and stay ahead of the game.
